Sunday, June 24, 2012

After many miles and much Chic-fil-A, we arrived at the West Ark Church of Christ, Fort Smith, AR.  The college minister, Travis, set us up in their gymnasium, gave us the grand tour, and prayed over us.

Taking advantage of our remaining few hours of daylight, we then split:  the ladies went to the local mall where their shopping adventures produced a very real hermit crab named Nemo.  The guys travelled a short distance to one of the premier disc golf (that's "folf" for you Missoula folk) courses in Fort Smith.  We separated into teams and proceeded to play through the hot, sticky evening.

Our day ended with a devotional and prayer.  I thank God for His Kingdom.  Even a small gesture, such as sharing a church building with a group of sojourners, slaps me with the reality of the amazing, grace-filled relationship we have with people (with strangers!) in the family of God - all through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ!  I am continually in awe.

Our group does not show many signs of weariness.  Conversations are lively and range from theology to napkin origami water foul.  Our next leg of the journey will push us into the Southwest - one of my favorite areas of the States.

We will try to keep you posted!

Grace...
J.D.

  1. Now I know why Joseph took his Folf Bag...hopefully he had already picked up some dress shoes to wear with his slacks to church, otherwise he should have been shopping with the girls! Thank you for the update, its nice to know where you all are and that your travels have been safe. Love to you all.
